Mr Hensley on his way to the Annual Global Flat Earth Convention

TOOLS : Adobe After Effects • CInema 4D • Redshift Renderer
SKILLS : Art Director • 3D Modelling • Animation • Look Development
CLIENT: Personal Project
This particular project served as an engaging and self-initiated endeavor, driven purely by the desire for fun and continuous learning within the realm of motion design. The project’s focal point was a meticulously crafted 3D scene using Cinema 4D, where each element was not only modeled with precision but also served as a canvas for experimenting with advanced techniques and pushing the boundaries of creative skills.

Hard-Surface Modelling Mastery:

The project commenced with a challenge to elevate hard-surface modelling skills, with the primary focus on creating a highly detailed and realistic car. This endeavor aimed to test the extent to which hard-surface modelling capabilities could be pushed within the Cinema 4D environment. The meticulous detailing in the car’s design became a testament to my commitment to honing my craft.

Procedural Approach to Tree Creation:

In a pursuit of realism and efficiency, a procedural approach was employed to create the trees in the scene. Displacement and noise were strategically applied to the geometry, mimicking the intricate shapes of leaves. This not only added a layer of realism to the natural environment but also showcased my experimentation with procedural techniques within Cinema 4D.

Rendering Mastery with Redshift:

The project showcased a deliberate effort to master the rendering capabilities of Redshift, a powerful rendering engine. Complex multi-material shaders were meticulously crafted for the car’s body, providing nuanced and realistic textures. Additionally, the road was enhanced with displacement to introduce subtle imperfections, adding a touch of realism. I also delved into creating organic yet stylistic materials for the natural elements in the environment, demonstrating a versatile understanding of material creation within Redshift.

Fun and Learning as the Driving Forces:

The primary motivation behind this project was sheer enjoyment and the pursuit of knowledge. Every element in the scene, from the intricately modelled car to the procedurally generated trees, became a playground for exploration. I took risks and embraced challenges to push the boundaries of their skills, creating a vibrant and visually appealing 3D environment that stands as a testament to my passion for motion design.

Conclusion:

While this project was conceived solely for fun and personal development, it turned into a showcase of mastery across various aspects of motion design. From intricate hard-surface modelling to procedural tree creation and rendering finesse with Redshift, the project not only reflects technical proficiency but also an unwavering commitment to continuous learning and creative exploration.
